Hosanna is some 144 miles south of Addis Ababa. It has about 79,346 residents or about 13,225 households. Economically, the per capita income of about 50% or 6,613 households ranges from $ 65 to $ 80.

CHSFS-Ethiopia's Family Development Center supports

• 200 vulnerable families that fulfill a selection  criteria by extending start-up-funds to establish small businesses and then take care of their children and themselves with the proceeds they get from their businesses during the transition to self-sufficiency. The support also includes providing basic skill trainings and purchasing some of the relevant inputs for the small businesses.
  
  
• Gives 60.00 Birr ($6.00) per child per month to the same families for one year so as to enable them to cover the education, medical and food costs of the children (to be sponsored) with the aim to further support the families until their businesses are well established.
